Thought that I would jump in and say hi first.
I am so excited to finally see this love project of mine... come to life!
So about me...
I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunty, teacher, author, artist, mentor & mocha lover!!!
To say I am passionate about learning and teaching would be an understatement. Currently I am passionate about working with beginning teachers & LOVE being around new teachers as their enthusiasm is contagious!
I have been teaching since 2000 and was a targeted graduate in my final year of study in my B.Ed. I had particularly difficult prac experiences during my study which really pushed me to be a great teacher but I scored the most amazing school to work at in the Sutherland Shire and have made 2 life long #teacherfriends and learnt that my teacher friends are a crucial support system for the longevity of your teaching career.
I have spent the last 13 years focussed on special needs education where I have met the most amazing individuals who have changed my life and touched my soul. Those students ultimately made me a better teacher and taught me so much more than I taught them!
My top 3 pieces of advice:
1. Building a classroom culture is the foundation to your behaviour management system;
2. Your relationship with your students is KEY to the success of the learning in your classroom (students will not learn from someone they don't like);
3. Keep a journal and record / keep all those little notes of gratitude or moments of learning that touch your soul & use this to reflect on when you ever doubt yourself as a teacher! Everyone has those days, especially when you are stressed and heavy with paperwork and politics!
My dream is to see Savvy Teachers reduce the exit rate in our teaching industry by providing an interactive website so teachers can inspire other teachers. Through sharing the #teacherlife we will inspire and nurture new teachers to provide longevity in our most important asset to education.... teachers.
